The Downhill Racer

A very intimate and powerful portrait following the Hercher's fairground on the road for a year, the Scottish Highlands providing the stunning backdrop. 

Darren Hercher returns to his family after years of estrangement due to a feud which took place a decade before. The film focuses on the complex relationships between the matriarch of the family 'Nana' and her two son's James and Alex who is Darren's father. The Downhill Racer is the name of a ride that Alex bought against the wishes of the rest of the family and proved the catalyst for dividing the family and ultimately losing everything.  He fulfilled a dream when buying the ride but paid the ultimate price.
